It is very important to establish what you want your web site to do. Are you aiming to use the site to generate new sales? Do you want the site to display information to employees (company regulations), or data to suppliers? (standard business terms), or technical support to customers/suppliers? Your web site could be a mixture of all three.

Decide what you want your web site to be, get a blank sheet of paper and write down all the possible uses for your web site. By doing this you'll be able to determine your web site users, and what types of information they will require. This will greatly help your web-site design.

Having decided the needs of the users of your web site, the next step would be to decide upon the content of your site. You need to be aware of how you are going to present the information.

Are you going to simply present your products and services in a simple way? Or are you going to give in depth guides? The best solution generally would be to have simple product images with a brief description of each item and the price, with a link for more detailed information if the user wants it. This gives the user quick information and an option to explore further.
