A more modern re-working of 'The existence of God' this text is a very useful, and not too hard going reference guide for any student of religion, a bit pricey though. RATING: 4/5 BY: Kenneth Cragg, PRICE: £7.95, PUBLISHER: Collins Religious Publishing (1991), ISBN: 0-00-599087-4. Good clear concise guide to the Koran, it's impartial writing make it a joy to read, although not the full text but merely a selection of writing, this book is still highly useful. This book explores the existence of God by presenting arguments through the ages. This book although quite old still shines with the quality of it's debate and analysis from philosophers and theologists through the ages. RATING: 3.5/5 THE REVISED ENGLISH BIBLE - THE NEW TESTAMENT PRICE: £3.95, PUBLISHER: Oxford University Press (1990), ISBN: 0-521-50745-6. The bible must be one of the most highly published text books through time. The problem however is the fact that it has been translated in several different languages meaning different errors in the translation. This version although not without errors is a clear, simple translation. RATING: 3.5/5 THE SIGNS BEFORE THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT - Second Edition BY: Ibn Kathir, PRICE: Unknown, PUBLISHER: Dar Al Taqwa Ltd (1992), ISBN: 1-870582-039. Excellent little text book which explains how the prophet Muhammad predicted the world will end. So it may be based on one persons perspective but none the less this book is worth a read. RATING: 3/5 BY: Patwant Singh, PRICE: £25, PUBLISHER: John Murray (1999), ISBN: 0-7195-5714-3. Heavyweigh textbook on Sikhism from its conception to modern troubles in the Punjab. This book is for the more intensive reader and devout Sikh. RATING: 3.5/5 |
