Begin with process mapping, look at a product, and observe all the stages that product encounters from raw materials, through the production cycle and into dispatch. This will allow you to apply the techniques learnt earlier in this web-site.

Use Kanban to set up pull areas within your production cycle. Apply Poka-Yoke in component build to ensure human error is greatly reduced. SMED was all about re-thinking tooling and applying very simple concepts to improve set-up times.

If board room approval is strong enough take the step of FMS to make your production systems as flexible as possible.
