YOU ARE OUR VISITOR

The entire concept of lean manufacturing is all about looking at your production processes to try and

Identify all the areas which are creating waste. From reading the production control methods section you should be able to apply the concepts to your business:

1. Use JIT to re-establish buyer-supplier relationships, and hold less inventory.

2. Use visual aids like Kanban to show your WIP status to everyone.

3. Use Poka-Yoke to make WIP non-conformance as low as possible.

4. Review SMED to reduce the non-value added costs in your production cycle.

5. Use Takt-Times to generate leveled production targets.

The next step towards developing a lean business profile is to re-arrange all your value-adding (zero waste) production processes in a cell/department which will have raw material coming into, very little waste and a value added at each stage, resulting in a more productive business.

Please visit the Kaizen page of the Quality Strategy area to see ways in which lean manufacturing principles are combined with continuous improvement ideals.
