Of the four stories in the collection, the most famous is the shawshank redemption, a tale of man wrongly accused of murder, is sent to prison and plots his escape, a classic tale which was made into a classic film. Classic tale of love and separation where both husband and wife fight for custody of the child. Sad but realistic tale. Worthy read. Alarmingly funny story of someone in a mental institution who tries to bring about change, the book is hilarious to say the least. Terrorism, political intrigue, the United States versus Russia, this book has it all. RATING: 3/5 BY: Alan Silitoe, PRICE: £5.50, PUBLISHER: W.H.Allen (1979), ISBN: 0-491-02109-7. This book is told in a very powerful manner, it's best described as a family album a tale of two families and the injustices of the first world war. RATING: 4/5 |
